The Drug Dealers

I realized today that my job places me in a category in which I should not be bragging about. I am not alone though. My friend Mark has an entirely different job, although he may be put in the same category. We are both drug dealers. I work in a pharmacy and I sell drugs to people all day long. Of course, these individuals bring in prescriptions first, therefore making the transaction legal. It is still a deal though. These people grace my hands with money and I hand them the medication they want. My friend Mark is also a drug dealer. He has people addicted. People come to him daily and will wait in line for several minutes in order to get their fix. The business is very lucrative. My friend Mark is a server at a coffee shop. Coffee is considered a drug and he is selling it, this makes him a drug dealer. Yes, we are both legal to sell our drugs but it is interesting to think of your job in a different light.

This mess we're in

I wish this comic were funny...unfortunately it is true. Americans are weighing health risks with their costs. My step father is a physician who has owned a walk-in clinic for over 20 years. The business has always been profitable. His patients love his work and he gets a lot of people returning to see him. Over the last few months, he has seen a significant decline in patients. It is not that the patients are getting healthier, it's that unless there is a serious illness or injury more Americans are avoiding seeing a doctor. Although the economy is doing horribly right now, co-pays and premiums for insurance companies are still on the rise. This comic is funny but only in an ironic sort of way. I have faith that Obama will try to attack the insurance companies for being unfair. Let's see what the future holds.

Presidential Promises

Barack Obama gave an impressive speech yesterday during his inauguration. He gave a speech which offered a lot of hope to people around the world. We are in tough shape as a country right now and Obama plans to ease some of the pain we have endured over the past 8 years or so. He made several promises during his speech. In fact he made over 500 promises. Unfortunately, the media was all over that and decided to put up a website in order to track Obama's promises. Despite the criticism of some individuals Obama's first day in office as president yielded results. He has already kept 6 promises, which aim at things like cutting down corporate corruption and lobbying. There are currently 14 more promises in the works and as Obama's cabinet begins to get to work he will surely fulfill more of these promises. I believe that regardless of Obama's promises his main purpose for making these statements was to give hope. Americans desperately need hope right now. Every money making market is in a financial crisis and Obama's words were meant to drive a positive message to the hearts and minds of Americans. If you would like to track President Obama's progress you can click here. Give me your thoughts.

The Diagram of a Madman's Mind

Christmas… the day everything would change. Weeks of arrangement would allow the plans to fall into place perfectly. Months of loneliness and desperation festered in his mind. He woke that morning with a burning desire. He would change her life forever. Bruce was not a stupid person, in fact he had many upper-level skills and degrees. His intelligence permitted him to be able to concoct such a strategy. He hurried quickly to meet the deadline. Bruce went from store to store buying equipment and supplies. He worked day and night drawing diagrams and recalling memories of the past. Today was the day, Christmas eve 2008. He tied up some last minute plans before he got in his car and left. He knew this Christmas would be different than all the others. His only concern was changing her life. He was on his way to a party which she would be attending. His car was full of Christmas boxes and some supplies he had brought with him. He drove his rental car to the street where the party was and as he rounded the cul-de-sac at the end of the road he remembered how one of the neighbors used to get into character and go from house to house leaving presents and giving cheer. Bruce gathered his things from the car and began to put on his suit. His heart was beating and he grabbed his wrapped boxes. He headed for the front door and with each step he took his heart began to pound exponentially faster and harder. He arrived at the door and knocked. He could hear the people inside. He heard someone coming towards the front door. He gripped the gift box which he held in his hand. As the front door began to slowly open he knew there was no turning back. “I have to change her life”! Bruce said excitedly to himself. He opened the box in his hand and withdrew the item inside. The door opened and standing before him was a child about 8 years old. His heart was now pounding. The little girl looked at him in amazement. She saw Santa Claus standing before her at the front door. He seemed to be bearing gifts. The time it took to get to the front door felt like a life time. It was as if it were all in slow motion. Time seemed to catch up with the events that took place next. Bruce gripped the item in his hand and pointed it at the little girl. She didn’t even expect a thing. Bruce had shot her in the face with a handgun. He looked around the house for people who looked familiar to him. As party goers scrambled he managed to shoot several others. He un-wrapped another of his boxes and inside was a device which sprayed flammable material around the house. He ignited the material and it began to quickly set the house ablaze. The house was burning with the same flames that were living inside Bruce’s heart and mind. He knew he had to change his ex-wife’s life. He didn’t expect the events which came next. His Santa suit had caught on fire and had begun to melt to Bruce. He escaped the house and drove to his brother’s home. Bruce planned on killing others and then fleeing to Canada but he realized that he been severely injured during his killing spree. The smell of burning flesh and cloth was caught in his nostrils. The pain was unbearable. He could see the charred skin which was bleeding. He knew that if he entered a hospital there would be no escape. Bruce thought about his decision. It was like slow motion again as he reached for his pistol. He could feel the cold steel in his hand. “It was not supposed to end like this”! Bruce cried to himself. That evening the police responded a complaint of a gunshot. Bruce was found dead in his brother’s home. The desire in this madman’s mind spilled over and became a reality. He left several of the people at the party injured and nine were found dead inside the burned house. One of the bodies found was hers! Bruce had managed to change her life by taking it. It was the day everything changed.

Lost Love Letters (#1)

Love letters lost are almost as sad as losing a loved one. Love letters are written with such intensity and for the puprose of invoking a passion. Love letters differ from a letter of complaint or one written with malice. Love letters are strategically planned out and they tell a story about the persons feelings. While I was clearing out an old factory in a nearby town I stumbled upon an envelope from 1988. The contents of the envelope consisted of two letters. These letters were written by a woman and addressed to a man. As I removed the letters from the envelope I could tell that they were personal. I could not put the letters down. I began to read. As the words entered my mind it was as if I were there, watching this woman write this letter. An entire scenery was painted before me. She wrote with such an eloquent and mature yet silly/innocent style. The first letter began:

Hi there Mr. W.,
Well, I did it again. We stayed too long at the beach! Ben & I got carried away with building sand castles & we lost track of time. I may regret this great tan later in life. I hope it's much later in life because I have a few things I'd like to do with you first!
Speaking of you, I think I'll tell you how much I appreciate your patience with me. It seems that I'm always taking off on trips, watching the clock, or telling you that I can't get out. How do you put up with it all? Anyway, this is the last of the trips. Both of them were planned before I met you. As far as watching the clock & not being able to get out, well, I'll work on those.
This is a little off track but I've been meaning to tell you that the ball field of the Hollow has been named the Ed Mandy Field. I thought that maybe he had died, but I guess not. Come to find out, he had something to do with it. Oh, well.
I think you know that I really really miss you. I miss your sexy mouth, the way you taste, the great way you smell, seeing you in those white pants, golfing with you, going to the beach with you, doing the puzzle, reaching those levels of ecstacy you bring to me when we make love, and just being with you. Saying 'I love you' makes me feel vulnerable but what the hell, I'll say it anyway. I love you...
-
Can you see what I mean? You can feel her passion in her writing. Sure, the beginning of the letter starts off very slow and silly but by the end you really know how this woman longs to be with this man. Why were these letters abandoned in this mans desk? It is heart-breaking to read these letters that were only meant for his eyes.

A Capella Horses

This Link will take you to the singing horses. If you have never played with the singing horses, be prepared to waste away time. Haha. You can click on the horses to get them to start or stop singing. I guarantee you can not stop right away. It is facinating, like a child at a toy store. Enjoy.

Vote Obama!!!

If you are eligible to vote then please read this post! There are many undecided voters that for whatever reason may choose randomly when they enter the booth or decide not to vote at all. Consider this... there are many people living in the U.S., who can not participate in the election. Although these individuals are unable to vote, they are still affected by the outcome. If you are one of the undecided voters consider voting for a man who is offering a real change, a man who is full of integrity and heart, a man who has remained composed and strong throughout the entire campaign. Consider voting for Barack Obama. John McCain spent his entire campaign trying to criticize and scrutinize Barack Obama, while offering us nothing else of significance. Tell me McCains plans? Nobody knows. Obama has been straight forward about his plans and has even offered us detailed accounts of how to accomplish the plans he has offered. Please, Vote for Barack Obama, vote for the people who can not! OBAMA 2008!!
